THE CLASSES
At the Summer Film Camp, campers take 5 different classes every day! Students are grouped by age and form production teams to create their projects.
SCREENWRITING
Every great film starts with an idea. Campers use their imagination to develop original stories and learn how to bring those ideas to the page. They’ll explore treatments, screenplay formatting, story structure, and storyboarding while discovering their own voice as a storyteller!
DIRECTING
Campers step into the director’s role and learn how to bring a story from the page to the screen! In this class, they’ll analyze staging, framing, and blocking while learning how to communicate their ideas, work with actors, and make creative decisions as a director.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
Campers get hands-on experience with digital cameras while discovering how story telling is influenced by cinematography! They’ll investigate composition, framing, lighting, camera angles, and movement, while learning how to change lenses, plan shots, and work together as part of a crew!
EDITING
Students finish their films as they learn how to edit, create effects, insert transitions and add graphics using Adobe Premiere Pro! Campers learn to shape their story by utilizing advanced editing techniques as they guide their projects to completion!
PRODUCTION
This is where everything comes together! Campers spend three hours each day working with their production team to bring their ideas to life. They’ll collaborate, solve problems, take on different roles, and apply the lessons from their daily classes as they create a commercial and an original short film. At the end of camp, each camper receives a copy of their finished work to share and enjoy at home!
